Technical aspects of editing

11.       What do the numbers 16:9 refer to? Aspect ratio- width X height

22.       What is the frame size of a 1080p video file? 1920 X 1080

33.       If you have a video file which is 720:50p what is the frame rate and what does the p stand for? 50 FPS/progressive.

44.       What is the difference between p and i? Progressive every pixel of frame is refreshed every second and Interlaced half of the pixels of every frame are refreshed every second.

55.       What frame rate is real film shot at? 24 (23.976)

66.       What might be the advantage of shooting at a higher frame rate? More detail captured and allows for smoother slow motion.

77.       What defines a lossy file? A lossy is a form of compression that 'loses' certain elements of detail that which are considered not necessary for human perception. The reason being to reduce file size.

88.       Name three file types commonly used in video editing. .Mov .Wav .MP4

99.       What is the difference between a video file type and a codec? A file type is the container of information and a codec is the way in which the information is read or written.


110.   What is bit rate?  The amount of information passed in an amount of time, higher amounts equal higer detail.
